BT boost for Golspie group
Golspie Youth Action Project have received a boost from a major BT award scheme which aims to award one million pounds worth of internet ready computers to community groups across the UK. The Golspie group have been awarded a PC, plus one year's access to the internet.
They were one of 48 groups to receive a BT Community Connections award in the Scottish region of the scheme and impressed the judges with their innovative ideas on how an internet ready would benefit the local community.
They plan to use the internet to create and promote their own website and on-line newsletter, to help with school studies, and allow members to contact and share ideas with other groups in similar situations worldwide. Project leader Steve Murray said "We are absolutely delighted with our BT Community Connections award. It will benefit our community, in particular young people, as internet access is not freely available in the village. This will allow them to experience what others living in towns and cities often take for granted."
